Word spread around the interwebs the past 24 hours that Gail Simone was leaving the new Firestorm book. Simone confirmed via Twitter last night that issue six of the book will be her last one, and DC's The Source blog revealed that Joe Harris (Ghost Projekt) would be replacing her as co-writer. Ethan Van Sciver will continue to co-write the book, and is providng interior art for issues seven and eight, before Yildiray Cinar returns as regular artist.
This isn't a huge surprise, as rumors have been flying around since before NYCC that Simone would be leaving Firestorm. It is disappointingm though. Firestorm has gotten off to a very rough start, but I had hope that it would come together with Simone involved. Six issues is clearly not going to be enough to establish the current universe of Firestorm, so I'm very concerned about where things go after issue six.
So, how do you think the book will fare in the wake of Gail Simone Leaving?
