We all know how most horror remakes turn out to be garbage. So, when it was announced that instead of a sequel, we would be getting a remake of the original Evil Dead, fans of the franchise (of which I am a big one) we re justified in being both disappointed and skeptical.

But over the past several months, I've been hearing and reading a lot of good things about the new Evil Dead. And when the first trailer debuted a couple of months ago, it was downright scary. It was clear that the remake is going for hardcore horror of the original, as opposed to the slapstick comedy that Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness were known for.

Last night, a new, longer red band trailer debuted for Evil Dead, and it confirms that this remake has some serious potential. Anyone who's seen the original knows the basic plot, and there aren't a ton of surprises in that regard. But this trailer is absolutely brutal, and pretty darn creepy.

Before you click on the player below, understand three things:

1. Once again, this trailer is absolutely not for kids.

2. This trailer is absolutely not for the faint of heart.

3. There are spoilers in this trailer.

Evil Dead will be arriving in theaters on April 12, 2013.

Wish I didn't watch that. Sorry but this stuff has never been for me. Thought these films were supposed to be cheesy humor and horror. Yikes.

My wife loves this stuff. I always end up squeezing her hand off while watching them with her. I always fall for the "make you jump in your seats" scare.

this one actually looks good.

I realize that Evil Dead was originally a serious horror flick, but Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness are more my thing. Wish this was more in that vein. I'll be seeing it no doubt, but unless its just that good, I'll be wishing it were with Bruce C and funny.
