by Matman Sad news to report! Last Friday we lost a man responsible for more awesome television than anyone else in history! Television producer, writer and creator Glen Larson passed away last Friday of cancer at the age of 77. To fully understand how his influence is all over the Secret identity Podcast lets just take a look at some of the shows he was a part of; Battlestar Galactica, Night Rider, Buck Rogers, Manimal, Magnum P.I. and The Fall Guy. Some of our favorite people we have interviewed has something to do with a Glen Larson produced show including Noah Hathaway, Gil Girard, Melody Anderson and Erin Gray! Starting his career in the mid 1960's with IT TAKES A THIEF, Lareson went on to work on such classics as SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN, HARDY BOYS/NANCY DREW MYSTERIES, B.J. AND THE BEAR... (Deep breath) QUINCY, GALACTICA 1980, AUTOMAN, QUINCY, GET CHRISTIE LOVE... My childhood was filled with more Glen Larson visuals than anyone else, and for that I will be eternally grateful. His career was filled with comments about stealing movies and making them into TV shows but I say WHO CARES! I loved Star Wars and I also loved Battlestar Galactica! You will be missed, sir! You know what time it is? Time for two forty-something geeks to talk to you about comics books! Here's the rundown:

Press Release “These weren't going to be the bulbous nose, broom-riding Halloween caricatures. These witches are a cannibalistic, skeletal race that hide in the forest, gifting their naturalistic powers to greedy folk who pledge other people in exchange. And those poor saps are doomed to be food for the creatures.” —NEW YORK DAILY NEWS The second issue of WYTCHES by Scott Snyder and Jock, one of the most buzzed about horror series of the year, has garnered rave reviews and left readers horror-stricken and hopelessly hooked. It is slated for a second printing in order to continue to haunt readers. “I don't know how to thank readers enough for the support on this book,” said Snyder. “It was always going to be dark and personal and I think it's safe to say none of us on the team expected this sort of response, sales-wise. But thank you guys so much. You're truly changing the landscape of comics with the support you're throwing behind creator-owned books lately. It's incredibly exciting and inspiring to see.” In WYTCHES #2, a strange bite grows on a girl’s neck and the wytches are getting closer, creeping out of the woods. Readers beware, this terrifying second chapter of the new smash hit WYTCHES is even more chilling than the last. Across the globe, century after century, men and women were burned, drowned, hanged, tortured, imprisoned, persecuted, and murdered for witchcraft. None of them were witches. But witches—real witches—are out there. They are ancient, elusive, and deadly creatures that are rarely seen and even more rarely survived. WYTCHES #2 is also currently available digitally on the Image Comics website (imagecomics.com) and the official Image Comics iOS app, as well as on Comixology on the web (comixology.com), iOS, Android, and Google Play. The second printing of WYTCHES #2 (Diamond Code OCT148059) will release on 12/10. Happy Friday!

A few years back you may remember our friend, writer Rob Anderson and his ANIMAL CONTROL UNIT (SVU). We not only loved the concept and ideas, but loved Rob's creativity, enthusiasm and the friendship that grew out of those early times. Since then Rob has penned the fabulous REX ZOMBIE HUNTER and a few issues of MY LITTLE PONY. But Rob is back with his latest.. CREATURE COPS - SPECIAL VARMINTS UNIT. The buzz already is nothing but positive with PREVIEWS making it one of their 'Certified Cool' picks in this months guide! Look for a review of the comic on an upcoming Secret Identity Podcast, but in the meantime, go over to Rob's official site at www.robanderson.com and discover the amazing world of a real cool guy. You can see the solicit for the book in the IDW section of this months PREVIEWS. It is so exciting for us when people we care about get praise, but it means that much more when it is for someone as kind and cool as he is talented. Interesting that when I spoke to Rob prior to the MY LITTLE PONY comic coming out I joked and said what until IDW can see what you can do... they will want to be in the Rob Anderson business. And guess what... they are! by Brian LeTendre Holy crap, you guys. I almost can't believe I'm typing this. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash Williams in a brand-new Evil Dead series on STARZ. Called "Ash vs. Evil Dead," the series will feature 10 half-hour episodes. That's five hours of Evil Dead goodness for us, folks. Here's the full press release: Starz announced today the greenlight of the network’s next original series, the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The project reteams the original filmmakers, director Sam Raimi, with longtime producing partner Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell. The STARZ Original series officially titled “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” will be 10 half-hour episodes. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip. “Starz first worked with Sam and Rob on ‘Spartacus,’ and we are thrilled to be back in business with them,” said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director of Starz. “With Sam writing and directing and Bruce Campbell returning to the screen, we are certain the show will give Evil Deadfans around the world the fix they’ve been craving.” “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it,” said Sam Raimi. "I'm really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide - it's going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor,” said Bruce Campbell. “STARZ has always been a great creative partner and we are excited to be working with them on this project,” said Robert Tapert. Raimi will direct the first episode. “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” was written by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi (Darkman, Army of Darkness, Drag Me to Hell) and Tom Spezialy (“Chuck,” “Reaper,” “Desperate Housewives”). Sam Raimi will also serve as executive producer, along with Rob Tapert (Evil Dead, “Spartacus,” Xena: Warrior Princess”) and Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”). Ivan Raimi will Co-Executive Produce and Aaron Lam (“Spartacus”) will serve as producer. The original Evil Dead film followed Ash and his friends who travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release demons intent on possessing the living. The film became an international success and is critically lauded to this day as one of the best horror movies of all time. It also spawned a media franchise, including two sequels, as well as video games and comic books and a recent reboot that grossed $97 million worldwide. “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” project was packaged by CAA and Craig Jacobson at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller. Marta Fernandez will serve as the executive in charge at STARZ. The series will air on STARZ in 2015. I can't believe we're actually getting more Evil Dead with Raimi and Campbell involved. What i'd really love to see though, is for Jane Levy's character Mia Allen from the 2013 Evil Dead remake to show up in this new series. There were rumors at the time that a new Evil Dead movie would bring both continuities together. Maybe the show will deliver on that. Either way, I am beyond excited.
