That's really troubling that all those books are $3.99. Sales are in a general decline across the board. And Marvel and DC can't retain old readers (let alone attract new ones) with rising price points like this. I'm still bitter that X-Men: Schism, which was supposed to be a jumping on point for new readers, was priced at $4.99. That doesn't work.

i read prelude to schism and LOVED it. then a saw schism was a new creator team AND 4.99. I put the book back on the shelf real fast.

This is not good because what the comics companies are going to read from this is, why should we lower the price when our best selling books are the ones that cost $3.99? If comic fans don't unite and decide not to buy those comics that are valued at $3.99, just as a demonstration of our unhappiness, they'll keep taking our money. I bought Justice League #1 on DCBS and it was $2.39, at $3.99 I wouldn't have bought it. The only books I'm buying at $3.99 are Fear Itself (because i love the series) and Flashpoint (because of the importance of the event), besides that, if it ain't at $2.99, chances are I ain't buying it.

Yeah, it is kind of a double edged sword there....it's good to see events going up, but after the rally that forced DC and Marvel to scale back to $2.99, it's a mixed message to see the $3.99+ books go up like that =\
