Last night at SDCC, the 2013 Eisner Award winners were announced. Among the winners were two Secret Identity favorites that received some well deserved recognition.
Becky Cloonan won "Best Single Issue/One-Shot" for her fantastic indie comic The Mire. It's an amazing book that I reviewed on the show back when it first hit ComiXology. You can also go back to issue #464 of Secret Identity to hear the interview I did with Becky at last year's Boston Comic Con. You can also grab The Mire on ComiXology here.
Another Secret Identity favorite, Chris Samnee was recognized in the "Best Penciller/Inker" category (along with David Aja of Hawkeye) for his word on both Daredevil and The Rocketeer. You can hear us rave about Samnee's art pretty much weekly on SI. He is on our short list for people we've yet to interview but really want to get on the show.
On a sad note, Secret Identity did not take home the award in the "Best Comics Related Periodical/Journalism" category, on account of the fact that we were not nominated and never have been. There's always next year!
You can see the full list of this year's winners over on CBR's Robot Six blog. Congrats to everyone!
