My association with Captain Canuck began in 1979 when I picked up a copy of CAPTAIN CANUCK # 9 at my local drug store in Broad Brook, CT. How and why it ended up there i'll never know but it started a
life long love of the hero from
North of the boarder!
Older listeners to the show will remember my interview I did with Captain Canuck creator Richard Comely, which was not only an early one for me... but one of my favorites.
Well those who attended the Captain Canuck Super Panel at Fan Expo in Toronto got some amazing news including a possible animated series!
Featuring Richard Comely, president of Captain Canuck Inc. Fadi Hakim, creative director Paul Gardner, illustrator Kalman Andrasofszky, Silver Snail owner George Zotti, Comic Book Daily author Walter Durajlija and LOST GIRL star Paul Amosteam. The group went into detail about the place in the comic book world, costume design and plans they had in store for the good Captain.
“We wanted to put Captain Canuck in as real of a world we could without distilling it too much,” said Gardner in Toronto. “We wanted to establish who this character was going to be – he’s continuing to evolve with the comic and story, but really it was just to have fun with the character.”
For the animated web series, Gardner said he wanted high adventure while having a few laughs along the way. The episodes were shown to the fans who were unanimous in its praise and applause!

The other 'killer' news is that a new series was announced at the panel to great approval from the audience. The series will contain the origins of Captain Canuck, and will take place in areas of interest in Canada. The plan is for a six issue series and if it does well there is another arc in the works.
