Sad to report another musical passing... this one of David Bowie who passed away from cancer at the age of 69, two days after his birthday. More than a musician Bowie was a respected actor, starring in such films as THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH and LABYRINTH.
Born David Jones, but changed his name not to be confused with Davey Jones of the Monkees, Bowie became a cultural phenomenon in the 1970's as the androgynous character ZIGGY STARDUST. He had hit singles, critical acclaim and was praised by the media for his ever changing styles; never following any trends. With over 140 million records sold worldwide he was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame in 1986.
For many kids they would recognize him as the voice of Lord Royal Highness on SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.
Bowie is survived by his wife Iman, children Duncan and Alexandra Jones and millions of fans the world over!
