Music fans across the world were shocked to discover the news about Motorhead's Lemmy passing away on Tuesday. Lemmy passed away from an aggressive form of cancer.
Ian Kilmister became a fixture on the British music scene in the late 1970's when his band Motorhead created a unique aggressive sound that not only waved the banner for the fledgling Heavy Metal movement, but also was accessible to the growing Punk Rock movement.
Along with 'Fast' Eddie Clarke and drummer 'Philthy' Animal Taylor, Mortorhead created the 'fast' sound that became instrumental in the development of Thrash Metal. But it wasn't just musically that Lemmy was influential. His look and his 'devil may care attitude was pure Rock n Roll and as many have said... not an act. Despite the 'live fast' way of life, Lemmy was never seen out of control and was always cordial and accommodating with fans and fellow musicians.
Current Motorhead drummer Mickey Dee said the band would not continue.
Despite changes in music Motorhead continued to release new music and tour with 2010's THE WORLD IS YOURS and this years BAD MAGIC ranking as two of their best releases ever.
Look-out afterlife.. here comes Lemmy!
