Everything has to have a starting point and for me my love for the Flash started with this issue...'The Flash' # 243 (August 1976).
Now i can't begin to tell you why i bought this book! i was only into war and horror comics and the only superhero I was reading was Captain America. But something drew me in and opened up a world I really enjoyed and still enjoy.
"If I Can't Rob Central City, Nobody Can!" is the sad story about The Top. As part of the colorful and incredible Rogues Gallery, The Top has found out he's dying and has set traps everywhere to stop the likes of Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Heat Wave, Captain Boomerang and the Trickster from doing anything. Crazy and colorful, I fell in right away and haven't looked back.
The creative team on this book (writer Cary Bates, penciler Irv Novik and inker frank McLaughlin is to me, the 'Flash All Star Creative Team'. No one captured the motion and thought of the Flash better than this team...ever!
As one of the most important comics in my collection, i'm super psyched that i have it signed by six creators of the book; inker McLaughlin, cover artist Ernie Chan and editor and legend Julius Schwartz! The remaining creators; writer denny O'Neil, penciler Mike Grell and inker Terry Austin were from the Green Lantern back up story which did nothing for me at the time.
