As crowded as Thursday was at New York Comic Con, Friday is when the show really begins. By mid-afternoon, I was already hearing reports about how this year's show broke all previous attendance records, and will surpass San Diego Comic Con in total attendance numbers.  It was packed all day, and yet I manages to get around to more of the show than I did yesterday.

I hit Artist Alley today, and said hi to our friends Jason May (LEGO comics, Robotic Madness) and Sean Wang (Runners), both of whom were busy with commissions and people checking out their tables. I picked up at bunch of books between Artist Alley and the Small Press row today, from Justin Jordan's new Image book Spread to Enrica Jang's House of Montressor to Megan Levens and Jamie Rich's Madame Frankenstein (BTW--I should be interviewing Megan about Madame Frankenstein before the weekend is out).

I also checked out the panel for the TV show Elementary today, which not only gave folks a chance to watch the full season premiere before it airs on CBS, but also featured stars Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu. The season premiere brings a new character into the fold--Kitty Winter, played by Ophelia Lovibond. Kitty is Sherlock's new protege as the season begins, and according to Executive Producer Robert Doherty, the character was inspired by a character of the same name in the Sherlock Homes story "The Adventure of the Illustrious Client."

Later on in the day I made my way over to the BOOM! booth and picked up a copy of Lumberjanes #1, which writer Noelle Stevenson was kind enough to  sign for my daughter. I also stopped by the Topps booth and picked up some Wacky Packages cards for my son, before ending up at the Archie booth, where I grabbed a copy of Diary of a Girl Next Door for my daughter.

Oh yeah--in between all that stuff, I had a great conversation with writer Alex De Campi at the Dark Horse booth about the Grindhouse series and her new project, Archie Meets Predator. Keep an ear out for that one soon.

All in all, it was a pretty full day at the show, and I grabbed a bunch more pics to share with you all. Enjoy them in the gallery below, and I'll be checking in again tomorrow!
