Listeners of the show have heard me raving about Rachel Deering's wonderful horror series Anathema, and hopefully you caught my interview with her in Episode #539 of SI, where we discussed our mutual love of all things horror.
Rachel is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for an anthology that captures the spirit of the great horror comics we grew up with. The book is called In the Dark, and Rachel has put together a team of amazing creators to help her compile this love letter to the genre, including SI favorites Paul Tobin (Colder), Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Revival) Matthew Dow Smith (The October Girl, Doctor Who) and a ton of other amazing writers and artists.
The collection will be a 250-page monster of a book featuring creator-owned stories, an introduction by Scott Snyder (Batman) and a feature on horror comics history by Mike Howlett.
The Kickstarter awards being offered for this project are some of the best I've ever seen, and more keep getting added. Creator-owned books, commissioned artwork and original stories, and the chance to have characters named after you are just a few of the current rewards available.
Pledging $10 to the project will get you a PDF copy of In the Dark, while $50 gets you the hardcover edition. If you are a fan of horror, or grew up reading Creepy, Eerie and Tales from the Crypt, backing this project is pretty much a no-brainer.
The project is only about $4000 away from being funded right now, but every little bit helps. If you're a fan of horror, this is one you'll want to get behind.
