I’m a little behind on this book, as I had to track down a couple of Venom issues that were part of the just-finished Minimum Carnage event.
Issue #12 of Scarlet Spider picks up after that event, with Kaine still struggling to deal with the death and destruction caused by carnage that he feels he should have prevented.
As Kaine drowns his sorrows in alcohol, the hotel he’s staying at gets robbed, and his close friends have to play hero because Kaine isn’t in any shape to. By the end of the issue, Kaine manages to pull himself together and help save the day, reminding him that his place is in Houston, as a hero, and that he’s needed.
Chris Yost created a nice jumping on point with this story,as it features pretty much all of the supporting cast of the book, and everyone hasa their moment to shine. Reilly Brown’s pencils are great, and he does a nice job of mixing in a little humor along with the action.
Scarlet Spider has been consistently good from the start, and if you didn’t get on board when it launched, now is a fine time to start picking this one up.
