After the pretty heavy events of the recent “Other” storyline, this issue of Scarlet Spider provides a bit of a breather.
Aracely, Annabelle, Wally and Donald decide Kaine needs to have some fun, and they drag him kicking and screaming to the rodeo. unfortunately for Kaine, a drunk Armadillo decides to crash the rodeo, and the Scarlet Spider is called into action.
Armadillo’s storyline in this issue is pretty touching, and the way the story resolves is both funny and sweet. Some might look at this issue as a bit of a throwaway, but it’s a nice palette cleanser for what is surely dark times ahead, as the Kravinoffs are targeting Kaine once again.
Chris Yost and Khoi Pham are really doing a nice job with this book. While it may be part of the Spider-family of books, Scarlet Spider has carved out its own corner of the Marvel universe, complete with a great supporting cast. This book is definitely worth picking up.
