Since the relaunch of the DCU, the showcase for the company has been the Batman family of books! Recently this already strong line just got better with the addition of writer John Layman on 'Detective Comics'!
Since issue # 13, the 'Mighty One' has brought the detective element back to the comic and with the last two issues, a creepy tale of wannabee Jokers, innocents in trouble and Batman on the case. But John isn't the only reason this book has become a must read... enter artist Jason Fabok.
Jason's art is exactly what I love in comics; realistic and fluid. The panels come alive with action and incredible details. My only complaint is the colors tend to make the book look a little too dark for my taste, but it is a dark book. It has a Brian Bolland and Russ Heath flair to it that just pulls me in.
For me and many other comic fans, 'Detective Comics' has always been the flagship title of DC Comics, after all that is where the company got the 'DC' from. Now it's great to see the book have a top notch team creating high quality stories.
