Press Release

Bluewater Productions is releasing a new comic book biographies on two legendary men of steel, Christopher Reeve and George Reeves. Tribute: Christopher Reeve is released this week in conjunction with the release of the Man of Steel DVD

Bluewater is working with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation on this book.  You can read more about the foundation in the book and a portions of the proceeds will also benefit the organization.

"Nothing is impossible." Christopher Reeve.

What makes a man a true hero? Is it the role he plays or the life he leads? Explore the life of legendary actor and philanthropist Christopher Reeve in this tribute to the man behind Superman’s cape.

The 32-page comic book, written by Michael Frizell, illustrated by M. Anthony Gerardo.  This book will feature two covers one by M. Anthony Gerardo and the other by famed artist Chris Mason.

“Working on a tribute comic about Mr. Reeve has been the realization of a childhood dream. When Superman: The Movie was released in 1978, Reeve embodied the character I dreamed about, and I wanted to believe a man could fly. While researching the book for Bluewater, I remember what compelled me to watch all of Reeve’s movies (my favorite, as you can tell in the comic, is Somewhere in Time. The movie features Reeve and Jane Seymour at the height of their prowess as performers, and it’s the only romantic movie I feel I can watch and not lose my ‘man card.’ It has time travel! Therefore, it garners geek cred in my book).”

“Reeve’s story is an inspiring one. As a university educator, I am particularly drawn to Mr. Reeve and the Reeve foundation because of the admirable work they do with people suffering from physical impairments. I am a former actor myself and I understand how difficult it is to embody a character. Now, imagine having the instrument you use to convey that character, your body, taken away from you.. Reeve transcended his injury to give us, his viewing audience, fully realized characters. I can’t help but admire him.”

In January is releasing another comic book on the life of another hero, Tribute: George Reeves written and drawn by M. Anthony Gerardo.  The book can be pre-ordered on iTunes and Comic Flea Market today.

He's been gone for 55 years but for generation after  generation he has thrilled & entertained us. He was the first actor to portray the man of steel in full color. And he is the granddaddy of all TV super heroes. But behind the scenes George Reeves lead a shocking (even by today's standards) life. Witness a tribute comic like no other when Bluewater journeys from the heartlands- to the "city of tomorrow", as  everyday people review George's career ,and his place within the history of American pop culture. Join us as we celebrate the man who personified America's first and greatest superhero!

"I am from the generation that was lucky enough to first witness Christopher Reeve on the big screen in the winter of 1978. To say that movie and the character has had a life long impact on me is an understatement. And through the years I had always admired Christopher Reeve's courage & how he truly was an inspiration. Prior to the 1978 movie, I had a 5-year head start with George Reeves as my first live version Superman. To this day I still consider him the granddaddy of all TV super heroes. He simply defined the golden age version of that character. To be able to work on these tributes was more than labor of love.  It was a true honor to bring them to life in pages of a comic," said artist/writer M. Anthony Gerardo.

The Tribute line of comic books tells the stories of the classic entertainers that have passed on,” says Bluewater publisher, Darren G. Davis “It is a way for us to honor these people who have made a difference in the world.

Previous subjects that have been featured in the “Tribute” line include Bruce Lee, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Capra, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.

Print copies of the book can be ordered at Comic Flea Market for $3.99: http://bit.ly/XKXzyo

Digital copies will also be available for $1.99. Download the comic to your e-reader from iTunes, Amazon, Nook, Kobo, ComiXology, Google Play, DriveThru Comics, Wowio, iVerse, and more.
