I would like to take this moment and thank Jim and his incredible staff for yet another incredible show. As much as any other con, I look forward to Albany each year.
This years show was held once again at the Holiday In in Albany, New York and for anyone who doesn't know the area...it couldn't be any easier to find with plenty of free parking.
The show is split into two areas; a large convention size room and the main room is in the beautiful courtyard. As far as vendors there were so many with everything you were looking for; toys, high end comics and my favorite, 50 cent bins! In fact, a company called 'Sales To Astonish' managed to take a lot of my money for books in their incredibly organized 50 cent boxes.
The guest list this year was a great mix and all very cool folks i got to spends some time with; J.M. DeMatteis (who told me he really enjoyed the interview we did last year), Matthew Dow Smith (who i'll be chatting with again in August at ComicConn). Keith Dallas, John Hebert, Joe Staton (he asked me if i was stalking him), Joe Sinnott and Todd Dezago!
The only drawback to the show was that it was a real hard place to do interviews. This is no fault of the show because they aren't setting up for me to do interviews. Todd Dezago and I got to do an interview and get to know each other a bit and ...what an amazingly cool guy he is! Can't wait to dive into 'Perhapanauts'! The picture above is something i bought from Todd and my favorite purchase of the show!
Please, please, please...plan on attending the next show in Albany, New York. It is an incredibly easy ride from no matter where you are coming from and since it is a smaller show you get a lot of face time with some amazing and creative people!
