Brian and I planned on hitting a few shows we haven't been two before and what better way to kick that off than with a trip to upstate New York for the Albany Comic Con!
First of all a big thank you to John for not only making us feel welcome, but putting on an incredible show! John made me feel comfortable by hooking me up with a couple of other podcasts; About Heroes and 2 Guys Talking. We all did a podcasting panel and chatted about the fun of doing a show, our favorite interviews and best moments.
Interviews? Here is what you'll be hearing as far as interviews in the next few months...
Jim Starlin - Here us talk about the inspiration of 'The Death of Captain Marvel' and why Batman shouldn't be around children.
Fred Hembeck - This is more me gushing than Fred doing anything but letting me.
Jim Zub - Why does the writer of 'Skull Kickers' owe me $40?
Alex Simmons - A two parter that involves two grown me getting emotional and much chat about comics!
Keith Dallas - Why can't we ever go looking for back issues together and who is the character he loves so much he wrote a book about him?
Bill Walco - The creator of 'Hero Business' explains how comic books and marketing really do mix! The above sketch of Wonder girl is from Bill.
John Hebert - Why will his biography be called 'John Wetton Ate My Nachos'?
J.M. DeMatteis - How did this writing legend sell the same story three times?
I also spent a little time chatting with Joe Staton and Matthew Dow Smith, who has some real big news coming. And I got to hang out (all to briefly) with our good buddy Mike Thompson from Adirondack Broadcasting.
The show had everything you could need INCLUDING access to Mountain Dew! Comics from every price range and toys! My big purchase was a Bruce Campbell figure from the film "My Name Is Bruce' and a few little comic book purchases as well. Held at the Holiday In in Albany, this venue was well laid out and gave con goers plenty of room to move around.
If you are a comic fan and are within two hours of Albany, New York than you need to make this show a part of your con schedule. Easy in and out and a whole lot of fun in between!
