Finally. Finally!
When I got back into comic collecting around 2005 (when Matt and I first met), I decided I was going to complete the part of my original comic collection I loved more than any other--the Marvel 2099 Books. I am a huge fan of Marvel's future universe, and while I had all 46 issues of the Spider-Man 2099 run, I had only partial runs of most of the other titles.
And so, at every store and comic show I went to over the past eight years, I had been looking for those back issues to fill out my collection. I got some in bunches, like a huge run of Ravage 2099 a few years ago that filled in most of the gaps in that run, or the Ghost Rider 2099 find of 2011.
For the past couple of years, I had the number of issues I need down to about ten. I couldn't find them anywhere, and my search had kind of stalled.
The a few weeks ago, a guy named Rob from a comic shop in Oakville, Ontario reached out via Twitter to say he listened to Secret Identity. We got to talking, and the subject of my search for 2099 issues came up. Rob told me to send him my list, and he would take a shot at finding the issues.
This week, I received a package in the mail containing all of the items on my list. My collection of 2099 books is now complete!
I cannot thank Rob or the folks at Comic Connection Oakville enough for helping me fill out a collection that has been years in the making. They will never know how much this means to me.
And now that my collection is complete, I am going to be reading them from the beginning. Stay tuned for my ramblings on the majesty of the 2099 universe!
