What an incredible weekend everyone had at Super Megafest 2016... Part One! And if you were a Warriors' fan...then it was also very special!
As a lifelong fan of the 1979 classic film, THE WARRIORS, it was incredible to be a part of the Friday night event that included a screening of the film and a Q & A session with actors Michael Beck (Swan), David Harris (Cochise) and Terry Nichols (Vermin). I don't normally go to pannels, but I wanted to hear what they guys thought and what the fans were going to ask. And you know what? I learned a lot!
When the movie opened in February of 1979, it was a hit. In the first weekend it made $3.5 million and despite bad critical reviews, people began flocking to the theatres to see this movie. But then, following gang fights and several deaths at screenings of the film, Paramount dropped all advertising of the film and within a few weeks... it was gone.
But all of a sudden something happened... CABLE TV! Needing programming, THE WARRIORS found a place and all those who may have been scared to see it in the movies could watch it in the comfort and safety of their own home.
For over an hour, the trio answered questions and made the fans in attendance, including myself, bigger fans.
I got to interview Michel Beck earlier in the day and found him to be open, charming and incredibly welcoming. There was no star trip or anything, just a love for those who supported his career and were moved by the roles he played.
So thank you Michael for your timer and the gang at Super Megafest for their support and always putting on a good, fun show!
