Our good buddy Joe Caramagna made another exciting announcement regarding The Further Travels of Wyatt Earp this week! Here's the press release of the big news:

Avengers Writer Joe Caramagna and Deadpool Artist Scott Koblish Collaborate on Five-Part Historical Saga

He was a lawman. A gunslinger. A living legend. But what Wyatt Earp wanted most was to leave it all behind.

While history remembers Wyatt Earp as the steadfast sheriff of Tombstone, most don't know that he continued to travel the Wild West, taking on jobs as a gambler, saloon owner, and a brief, but controversial stint as a boxing referee later on in life.  Despite his best efforts to retire in anonymity, Earp's reputation as a lawman would always come back to haunt him.

Inspired by the life and legend of this American icon, Square Head Entertainment is proud to announce the five-issue digital-first limited series The Further Travels of Wyatt Earp, debuting on comixology.com and on the Amazon Kindle Store on April 15, by writer Joe Caramagna (Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Rocket Raccoon) and veteran comic book artist Scott Koblish (Deadpool, Marvel Adventures: Iron Man, X-Men ’92).

“It’s the story of a (then) living legend who travels the West to find the next chapter in his life and redefine himself,” said Caramagna. “However, he finds out that his good reputation is his worst enemy. And just like Michael Corleone's famous line in The Godfather III, just when he thinks he's out, they pull him back in.”

The Further Travels of Wyatt Earp draws from historical figures and exotic locales to imagine what Earp's later years might have been like. Said Caramagna: "When I learned that he lived to the age of 80 and died in Los Angeles at the dawn of Hollywood's golden age, I knew there had to be some interesting stories there. Sure enough there were…and some were even true!"

One real-life event that is featured in the new series is the infamous Sharkey-Fitzsimmons heavyweight boxing title match of 1896, with Earp as referee.

"After the fixed World Series of 1919, it's arguably the biggest sports scandal of all time,” Caramagna added. "To this day, people still aren’t quite sure what happened. But you’ll see we have our own theory.”

The Further Travels Of Wyatt Earp #1 will be sold on Comixology and the Amazon Kindle Store on April 15th for 99¢.  The series was funded via Kickstarter. Colors by Andrew Edge. Logo design by Melissa Horvath-Plyman.
