When we talk about comics for 'all ages' the conversation isn't very long when it comes to great comics with eye catching art and quality. But one book offers all that.. and much more!

Alan and Chris Hebert (the HB in HBComics has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their awesome comic TEAM SYNERGY , a book about a super-team of teenage girls, aimed at getting young female readers interested in super heroes and comics.

According to Chris Hebert the book was very much inspired by his own daughters and nieces.

“This book is so important to be, because I have two young girls... we have a lot of girls in our family.” said Chris Hebert, in the video. “(The young girls at comic conventions) would light up when they saw the book. One girl was literally jumping up and down hugging it. She was so excited there was a book just for her.”

The description of the comic is this ...  "Five Teenage Girls. All cousins. All super-powered. Trained by their great grandmother, the original super heroine, to be the next generation of heroes. For every young girl who never had a super hero of their own to look up to, this is TEAM SYNERGY!” The book is written by Alan Hebert (Writer of Lazerman) and has art by Scott Shiver (Fem Force) and colors by Chris Hebert.

The Kickstarter is running until February 24th, and can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hbcomics/team-synergy-vol-1-spellbound

BOOM! has been doing an amazing job with both Escape from New York and Big Trouble in Little China. I am so happy that one of my favorite publishers has teamed up with my favorite director of all-time, and this week, I have even more reason to be excited.

Because this week, BOOM! is releaseing THE MAKING OF BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, a behind the scenes look at the greatest movie ever to celebrate it's 30th anniversary. I have been reading this bad boy, and it's glorious. And our freinds at BOOM! have shared a few preview pages with us. So check them out, and then grab this book. Here's the offical blurb:

We've shaken the pillars of Heaven and paid our dues to put together the only official, comprehensive behind-the-scenes look into the making of the 1986 cult classic film 'Big Trouble in Little China.' To commemorate the film's 30th anniversary, we've assembled a wealth of material, including hundreds of never-before-seen photos, exclusive new cast and crew interviews, filming secrets behind the film's iconic action sequences, original set designs, and much more! Features a foreword by 'Big Trouble in Little China' director John Carpenter.

DC TV Universe Shows All Get Renewed

1/10/2017

Excellent news being released by the CW about the DC TV Universe.  According to sources ALL the shows we are lovin' on the CW will be returning!

That is another season of THE FLASH, ARROW, SUPERGIRL and the much improved LEGENDS OF TOMORROW!

There is still no word on IZombie yet since the show won't begin again until later in the year and the non-DC RIVERDALE hasn't even began yet.

So this is excellent news.  Considering that GOTHAM (at least for me) got so much better last season we have some solid comic book TV to watch all week...still.

Let It Snow!!!

As nasty weather creeps up our way Brian and I go into the same mode... HIDE!!! On Saturday New England got his with a lot of snow and ice making it the perfect time to catch up on reading.  So what did I catch up on?

THE FLASH - Wally West has now become Kid Flash and Barry Allen is on a date with Iris West. The series has really been a solid read but I have to admit I’m not digging the art.  The Flash needs to have a much more streamline flow to it and on this series, I’m just not liking it visually.

JAMES BOND-HAMMERHEAD - The true way to make a James Bond comic book exciting and relatable to readers is to make it as close to the movies as possible. This arc is certainly set up in a cinematic way and reads like you are watching one of the movies.

DETECTIVE COMICS – By far the best of the Batman books, Detective Comics really puts the focus on the Bat Family, giving every character a chance to shine, especially Stephanie Brown, Spoiler.

REGGIE AND ME – Some of my favorite reading is when I get to plow through 10 or 15 old comics.  This weekend I have been working on some old books featuring Riverdale’s favorite jerk… Reggie Mantle. Getting ready for the new series...

What Did You Get for The Holidays?

Sadly, we didn't get a chance to record last week, as Matt was sick and we had family stuff over the holidays. But fear not! We'll be recording this Thursday (provided Matt's voice returns).

In the meantime, if you got comics-related gifts over the holidays, let's hear about them! My cousin got me the Marvel and DC encyclopedias and they are beautiful.

Me, Comic Books and 2017

First of all, Happy New Year 2017!!!!

Every new year I try to take a new approach to my comic buying and collecting.  A few years ago I did the "i'm only gonna read what I realy like" and have stuck with that, going from about 50 comics a month to a more manageable 30 to 35.

This year i'm taking a similar approach but it's a little harder considering that DC is putting out so many amazing books and most of them are bi-weekly. So here is the new approach....

For the books I would really like to read like GREEN LANTERNS, HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS and AQUAMAN i'm going to pick up arcs of each one; five books of the 'King Of The Seven Seas' thenthe next five would be one of the Green Lantern books and so on and so on... that way I can feel like i'm reading everything.

This month I'm reading AQUAMAN and to be honest... it is friggin' amazing!

More to come...
Forward>>
