And Then We Lose A Princess...

12/28/2016

For many of us, Carrie Fisher was our first crush!  And why not?  She was beautiful, tough and flew around space fighting bad guys and hanging out with incredibly cool people... and things. Sadly we have to deal with the reality that Carrie Fisher is no longer with us.

Fisher lived an incredible life full of triumph, sucess and tragedy. Yes she was Princess Leia but she was an award winning writer (POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE) and sadly struggled with drug issues and a personal life that wasn't the happy ending a princess should have.

Carrie Fisher was admitted to the hospital on December 23rd following a heart attack on a flight and passed away yesterday.

Our hearts are all sad....

Another Music Icon Passes Away

12/26/2016

2016 hasn't been a good year for celebrities to say the least.  It looks like every week we are losing someone who means so much to so many.  Sadly on Christmas Day we lost another.

One of the most iconic performers of the 1980's and early 1990's, George Michael passes away at the way too young age of 53.  Michael made a splash in the early 1980's as part of the duo WHAM with Andrew Ridgeley.

His look and soulful voice won him an incredible and loyal following and when he left WHAM in 1986 he began a solo career that started off like crazy; selling 20 million copies of his amazing debut FAITH and LISTEN WITHOUT PREJUDICE VOL. 1. Following his initial success Michael tried to go into a more serious path with a lot of resistance and not as much success.

In 1993 he made rock fans take notice of his incredible voice as he joined Queen onstage at the FREDDIE MERCURY TRIBUTE CONCERT but sadly he turned his back on music not wanting to be a puppet or 'hit making machine'.

Following several run ins with the law for drug issues and some rather public embarrassing moments, Michael stayed out of the public eye for the most part but did have several tours and wrote his autobiography, BARE.

For me I never wanted to like his music, especially with WHAM being so opposite of the heavy metal I loved, but his voice was as smooth and perfect a voice you could have.  He will be very much missed and now appreciated for the talent he was.
