Thank You Brass City Comic Com

Once again a small show really reminded me what I loved most about comic shows... FUN!

Brass City Comic Con was a small show that took place in Waterbury, CT (the brass city) and was held at the Naugatuck Valley Community College. Professor William Foster III and the gang from Legends Of Super Heroes collected some of the best local comic talent, nationally known creators and a bunch of the best deals in comic books and other geekery. And with an admission of only 99 cents to get it, the show was just a simple gathering that was celebrating the hobby we love.

Among the guests there were some cool raffles and an amazing game of Art Fight! Here two people were told what to draw and had one minute to it. Applause would determine the winner. I got to be involved and my opponent in this? Paris Cullins! Yes...the Paris Cullins who ushered in the DC era of the Blue Beetle and was the co-creator of the Blue Devil! Needless to say... I lost.

So thank you again to the amazing folks behind the scenes and the fans that made this show so special. Join us next year... won't you?

This Fall, SPIDEY Brings Peter Parker Back to High School

Press Release

Today, he’s the world’s greatest super hero. But long before he swung from rooftops as the Amazing Spider-Man, he was just a spider-powered teenager who knew that “with great power must also come great responsibility.” Today, Marvel is pleased to announce SPIDEY #1 – a brand-new ongoing series launching as part of All-New, All-Different Marvel! Follow the adventures of teenaged Peter Parker in a new series set within continuity from rising star writer Robbie Thompson (TV’s Supernatural, Silk) and blockbuster Marvel Young Gun artist Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy)!

“Everyone remembers their FIRST Spider-Man comic,” says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. “SPIDEY aims to be perfect as someone’s first Spider-Man comic, or their one thousandth. We’re not looking to re-tell stories here. What Robbie [Thompson] and Nick [Bradshaw] have put together is an exciting new take on Spider-Man at his arguably most iconic incarnation, and will feel fresh to new and old fans alike.”

Class is in session as two of the hottest creators in comics take Peter back to school for a classic and iconic take on the Spider-Man mythology. Familiar faces and new characters populate Peter Parker’s world as he balances his double life as a high school student and the high-flying, web-swinging new hero Spider-Man!

“Out of the 700+ issues of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN” shares Spider-Man Editor Nick Lowe, “Peter Parker was only in high school for thirty issues! Stan and Steve covered a lot, but there’s a lot of the high school and early super hero experience still on the table.”

Iconic villains, a classic supporting cast, the ol’ Parker Luck and more are back! Don’t miss one moment of these bombastic new adventures as Thompson and Bradshaw create a legend of their own when SPIDEY #1 comes to comic shops later this year!

Hey! Ho! Let's Go! Coming in 2016, the classic rock group THE RAMONES and everyone's favorite red-head will be crossing over in an extra-sized adventure!

Coinciding with the 75th anniversary of Archie Comics and The Ramones' 40th anniversary, the new comic follows in the tradition of Archie Comics crossovers like ARCHIE MEETS KISS and ARCHIE MEETS PREDATOR.

"Fans can expect a fun, rockin' and heartfelt extra-sized adventure that will stand up there with some of the best Archie crossovers ever. Which is saying a lot!"

Together with co-writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Gisele, the team plans to mix the colorful cast of Riverdale with the Ramones in fun and exciting ways.

"Getting to draw Archie Meets Ramones has me fangirling in excitement," said artist Gisele. "I will draw with the energy and passion of a Ramone to ensure my beloved Riverdale gets a Rock 'N' Roll High School."

Kickstarter Successes: Molly Danger and 27 Get Funded!

A big Congratulations to our pals Jamal Igle and Enrica Jang, as they both had huge Kickstarter projects that met their funding goals this week.

Jamal Igle successfully funded the next volume of his all-ages superhero book, Molly Danger. We absolutely loved the first volume, and can't wait for the further adventures of Molly to arrive next year.

Enrica Jang and Red Stylo Media have been putting out some amazing anthologies over the past few years, but their latest is the most ambitious one yet. 27, A Comic Anthology features stories inspired by the infamous "27 Club," which counts Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison among its members. They funded a deluxe hardcover edition that looks like it will be amazing.

So congrats to our friends on bringing their current projects to fruition! We can't wait to see them when they arrive!
