Thank You 'A Heroes Legacy!'

I want to thank everyone at A HEROES LEGACY in Manchester, CT for not only hosting me for a book signing... but carrying on the legacy of a fallen friend and a great store.

A HEROES LEGACY used to be the long running BURIED UNDER COMICS that i bought many a comic from 1992 until about 2005 when I stopped working in Hartford, CT.

So to walk into the 'new' store was surreal and a bit weird, but there was such an amazing fun spirit moving around the place. If you are ever in the Hartford area, take a visit to A Heroes Legacy on 188 Middle Turnpike West, in Manchester, CT.

Press Release

Hamburgers and a crown made of paper. The mysterious “S” shirt and a dog named Hot Dog. Did we mention Hamburgers? All of these things are synonymous with the greatest comic book character of all time: Jughead! This October, Archie Comics is launching a new ongoing JUGHEAD series by the unbeatable team of Chip Zdarsky and Erica Henderson!

Featuring the adventures of Archie’s hamburger-loving best friend, the new series will debut with an all new #1 issue from two of the comic book industry’s brightest stars. Zdarsky, known for his work on the hit Image series Sex Criminals, will bring his unique brand of comedy to comics’ biggest jokester.

“Jughead is the one character that I totally attempted to emulate when I was younger,” said Zdarsky. “Cool without being cool, voracious appetite, a slacker who doesn't always live up to his potential.”

Joining Zdarsky on JUGHEAD will be Erica Henderson, best known for her work on Marvel’s Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, whose emotive artistic style and knack for capturing characters in their silliest moments perfectly suits the gluttonous teenager.

The new series will run alongside the upcoming ARCHIE series, launching on July 8, by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples, telling off-the-wall and hilarious stories in the new and revamped Riverdale.

On getting inside of Jughead’s head, Zdarsky said, “He has moments where he shines and then goes back to being cool and zen. I love Jughead. He's the teen who's comfortable with himself, which is such rare, weird thing.”

JUGHEAD #1 will be available in comic book stores and digitally on October 7.

Catch Up on The Flash and Arrow All Summer!

5/27/2015

Did you miss out on Season 1 of The Flash and Season 3 of Arrow the first time around? Well, you're in luck, as both shows are replaying their entire seasons starting this week. The Flash will air on Tuesdays at 8pm EST and Arrow will air on Wednesdays at 8pm EST all summer, although they'll need to throw in a few extra showing to finish both seasons prior to the fall premieres.

But it's a great time to catch up. I just started watching Arrow this year, so I had to get through the first two seasons and missed this one. And my son and I are more than happy to watch The Flash all over again, as it was one of the finest seasons of television ever.

What about you? Will you be catching up?

Happy Anniversary STAR WARS

5/26/2015

With yesterday being Memorial Day in the United States it seemed to be a little disrespectful to put up a post about the anniversary of the release of STAR WARS!

Thirty Eight years ago yesterday...my childhood was born!

I know I can sound so melodramatic when I talk about how STAR WARS changed my life in 1977... but it did. As STAR WARS mania began to grow I moved from Hampden, MA to Broad Brook, CT and was depressed. I lost all my friends and after a particularly tough day in my new 4th grade, my dad took me back to Massachusetts (Springfield in fact) to go see STAR WARS... now the hottest ticket in town. Up until then I had the STAR WARS comics from Marvel and a few STAR WARS shirts.

When the film was released (not the 4th in the series, but the only one), there wasn't any merchandise available; no cards, figures...anything. The merchandize boom wouldn't begin until later in 1978.

But for so many of us... May 25th, 1977 was the greatest day of our lives!

Happy Memorial Day And Thank You

Usagi Yojimbo Is Back!

5/21/2015

by Matman

How awesome was it to go to the comic shop yesterday and see o the shelf a new issue of Usagi Yojimbo? It was pretty stinking awesome!

it has been almost three years since a regular issue of the series came out. In between issues we had  Stan and Mike Richardson's 47 RONIN series, a Usagi mini series and sadly, the passing of Stan's wife Sharon.

But now... may favorite samurai rabbit is back... and with a great jumping on issue!
