Award-winning creative team of Brian K. Vaughan (PAPER GIRLS, WE STAND ON GUARD) and Fiona Staples (Archie, North 40) will launch the eagerly anticipated seventh chapter in the multiple Eisner Award-winning series SAGA this August. Previously in SAGA, Hazel tackled kindergarten—her biggest adventure yet—while her family went up against some difficult lessons of their own. In SAGA #37, finally reunited with her ever-expanding family, Hazel travels to a war-torn comet that Wreath and Landfall have been battling over for ages. To celebrate the arrival of the most epic arc yet, Fiona Staples graces this issue with a gorgeous wraparound cover! “There’s a flood of new #1 issues out right now, but with this self-contained SAGA ‘event,' Fiona and I hope to tell the kind of deeply emotional epic that you can only get from an ongoing series at the ripe old age of 37,” said Vaughan. “The War for Phang has huge stakes and will create permanent, real changes for Hazel and her family. Get ready." SAGA #37 (Diamond code: JUN160601) hits comic book stores Wednesdsay, August 31st. Final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, August 8th.

Dark Horse is excited to announce the newest Serenity series, Serenity: No Power in the ’Verse. Originally created by the legendary Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel), Serenity begins its next chapter with a story written by Chris Roberson (iZombie, Witchfinder: City of the Dead) and illustrated by Georges Jeanty (Buffy Seasons 8 and 9, Serenity: Leaves on the Wind). Roberson described his excitement for the new series: “I’ve been a devoted fan of Captain Reynolds and company since the first episode of Firefly aired, and have followed the exploits of the Serenity crew through TV, film, and comics ever since. It’s an unbelievable thrill (and an enormous responsibility!) to help chart the course for their further adventures.” Serenity: No Power in the ’Verse finds Malcolm Reynolds and his crew struggling through some difficult times. Tensions are at an all-time high when the crew receives a call to help find a missing friend. The crew must come together to discover the answers to her mysterious disappearance. Will they find her in time? No Power in the ’Verse is preceded by the Serenity comics Those Left Behind, Better Days, The Shepherd’s Tale, and Leaves on the Wind. No Power in the ’Verse’s first issue (of six) goes on sale October 26, 2016. Georges Jeanty provides a special variant cover. Warning: There's blood and bad words in this trailer.

June comics sales numbers Comics: Hal Jordan and the Green Lanterns: Rebirth Amazing Spider-Man #15 James Bond #7 Justice League #1 Out of the Longbox: The Man of Steel #1 You can listen to the episode right here in the player above, or grab us on iTunes, Stitcher or your favorite podcast app. Thanks for listening! ![]() by Matman When I saw the sales numbers for June a couple of things came to my mind... 1. Fans will still gobble up an 'event book' even at almost $6.00 a copy 2. A good relaunch (at a good price) or rebirth will get fans excited 3. STAR WARS still sells.... BIG! As long as fans keep shelling out $6.00 for a comic they will keep making them...and Marvel's CIVIL WAR II # 1 sold a ton making it June's number one selling book. Almost 382,000 of you said "please... take my money!" And as long as you buy it... they will charge it. On the flip side, only 148,000 went back for more. A few issues in and i'm already calling DC REBIRTH a success. I know I may be early on this but just from the books I have read, it seems that DC has a long range plan and a focus to make their heroes... heroes. Plus at $3.00 a comic I'm willing to take some chances and try almost everything. Sadly it seems that Marvel is taking the hit on this one with books like SQUIRREL GIRL, HELL CAT, MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR and a few others being the victims of wanting to read more DC. And as long as it has the STAR WARS logo... i will be buying it and apparently I'm not alone. HAN SOLO #1, STAR WARS #20, THE FORCE AWAKENS #1, DARTH VADER #21 and #22 and POE DAMERON #3 ALL MADE THE top 50. I think we are a great time in comics, so Marvel smarten up with your prices, DC don't blow it and STAR WARS.... just keep doing what you always do! |
