We are now less than two weeks away from Boston Comic Con 2014 and to say Brian and I are a little excited is a huge understatement! Last years show was one of my favorite and most productive shows EVER and this year looks to be more of the same... with a few changes for us.

First of all Brian and I will have a table at the show to push the podcast, have interviews and sell our books! This will be a little weird for us not having the freedom to just move around when we want to but rest assured, someone will be at the table at ALL Times!

We can go on and on about how amazing the guest list (because it is) but I want you to check it out for yourselves. If you want classic creators, the current hot ones or the up and comers, this show will have it all. Torchwood, Lord of the Rings, DMC? Yup, this show has got them.

Over the next week we will be doing articles featuring the incredible guests that will be coming to Baaaston August 8 to 10th!

SDCC 2014:  Action Lab Brings PUPPET MASTER  Back To Comics

7/28/2014

Picture
by Brian LeTendre

So much news comes out of SDCC every year that it can be a bit overwhelming. New series announced, tidbits of info leaked at panels, footage of upcoming movies and shows--it all tends to blend together at some point.

But there are a few things each year that really catch my attention, and Action Lab announced one of them this week--they are bringing the classic horror franchise Puppet Master to comics.

If you grew up watching b-horror movies like I did, then you're definitely familiar with the Puppet Master series. If not, here's the original trailer for the first movie.
Puppet Master gained a huge cult following when it was released direct to video, and there have been several sequels in the franchise over the years. there was aeven a six-issue limited comic series published by Eterntity in 1990.

And now, Action Lab is bringing the popular horror series back. The series will be written and edited by Shawn Gabborin (Fracture, Snowed In) with different artists chosen by series creator Charles Band himself.

I can't wait to see what Action Lab does with this property, especially given the horror titles they've put out under the Danger Zone banner the past couple years (Final Plague, The Trip, Zombie Tramp, Night of the '80s Undead, etc.)

I'll be talking aboiut this series in the future. In the meantime, you can keep up to date with all of Action Lab's news over at www.actionlabcomics.com.

And on Saturday 8/16 at 3PM in the Harbor room, I'll be moderating a panel that every Spider-man fan should be attending--Looking Back at the Clone Saga. The guest list for this year's show is amazing, with comic legends like George Perez and Neal Adams, TV fan favorites like Nicholas Brendon (Xander on Buffy), and Secret Identity favorites Chris Giarrusso (G-Man), Jason May (LEGO, Scholastic, Robotic Madness), Joe Caramagna (Further Travels of Wyatt Earp, Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-Man), Keith Gleason (Hero Envy, Swamp Tales), Billy Tucci (Sgt. Rock), Jamal Igle (Molly Danger) and many more.

SDCC 2014: Tobin And Ferreyra's COLDER Returns With THE BAD SEED

7/23/2014

Picture
by Brian LeTendre

When Paul Tobin and Juan Ferreyra's COLDER debuted in 2012, it blew me away. Between Ferreyra's amazingly disturbing art and Tobin's tale of mental illness and its link to the unseen, COLDER quickly became on of my favorite series of all time. But it was over too soon--a mere five issues was not enough time to spend in the twisted world that Tobin and Ferreyra had created.

So I was jumping for horrific joy this week when it was announced that the world og COLDER is coming back this October, with THE BAD SEED, a whole new tale with a whole new evil for Declan to face off with. Here's the pitch:

Life goes on for Declan Thomas after his deadly encounter with the psychotic Nimble Jack, but Declan’s strange powers continue to develop, offering him a profound connection with the nature of insanity. Little does he know that the malevolent Swivel wishes to pick up where Nimble Jack left off!

Bloody Disgusting has an interview with Paul Tobin about the new series, and I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot more about it in the next couple of months. I for one cannot wait for October to get here.
