"People don’t believe in magic anymore, so that magic is being stolen from them…secretly. Forged in the flames of the Salem witch hunts, Jon Redmont is resurrected 300 years later at the dawn of a new old world order. An underground movement composed of the dispossessed elder races of the Earth, including dark elves, dwarves, and giants, among others, is slowly turning our world into theirs. This movement is led by Jon’s old inquisitors, who are a clandestine guild of evil witches known as The Scarlet Circle. Jon is endowed with the combined strength, abilities, and knowledge of his coven of light, a spell making him resistant to magic used against him, and an irreverence toward the powers that be in the shadows, especially The Scarlet Circle. Humanity unwittingly invests its energy in its own downfall through its support of products, media, politicians, and ministries that The Scarlet Circle controls. The Scarlet Circle is using that energy to renew and ultimately reclaim the Earth, which humanity is destroying, with power that humanity doesn’t even believe it possesses. Opposing the darkness without being darkened by it, Jon Redmont now hunts the hunters as…Witch Hunter!"

The Doctor Who Panel From VTCC

9/27/2015

Picture
by Matman

Thanks to the guys at Fuzzmonds Blurcast for not only putting on a great panel but being super cool guys. For those who couldn't make it... enjoy.

http://www.fuzzmondsblurcast.com/doctor-who-panel-at-vermont-comic-con/

We were so excited to have this opportunity to talk about Doctor Who (my biggest fandom) with all the lovely people at the second annual Vermont Comic Con. The only downside was the panel room was not nearly big enough to fit everyone who wanted to attend (insert frowny face here) and the line was very long. Fortunately for those of you who were not able to squeeze in, or just didn’t make it to the convention we filmed the whole thing. It skips a bit where we had some technical difficulties but almost the whole thing is here for your viewing pleasure!

I personally had a *fantastic time with the entire experience and am very thankful to our two special guests: Matt Herring and Blair Shedd. They both really know their stuff when it comes to the Whoniverse. Matt wrote an Unofficial History of Doctor Who and Blair is currently the lead illustrator on the Doctor Who series from Titan Comics featuring the 9th Doctor.

We cover how the show lured us in, which was our first Doctor and some of the issues we have with the program. I bring up my distaste for the 6th Doctor and his shape shifting penguin named Frobisher. Blair tells us about how he had to change David Tennant’s nose to be approved to draw the comics and Matt elaborates on how The Parting of the Ways (end of Donna’s era) was one of the most emotional moments of his life (y’know, after his wedding and the birth of his kids)."

The 10-episode first season of the half-hour series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers, and Craig DiGregorio who serves as executive producer and showrunner. “Ash vs Evil Dead,” is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film The Evil Dead.

Captain America: White--7 Years Later

9/25/2015

Picture
By Matman

Back in the early '00's, writer Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale were the 'all star team' of comics.

First teaming up in 1991 on DC's CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN, the duo then hit it big with BATMAN - THE LONG HALLOWEEN and even bigger BATMAN - DARK VICTORY. They produced the highly underrated CATWOMAN - WHEN IN ROME and the 'year one' epic SUPERMAN - FOR ALL SEASONS.

Moving their talents to Marvel, the team produced three mini series in the style of FOR ALL SEASONS, featuring marvel iconic characters and featuring a one word, color title... SPIDER-MAN - BLUE, DAREDEVIL - YELLOW and HULK - GREY!  All three are brilliant must read stories that brought the characters not only to their beginnings but their stripped down humble beginnings. But the best was yet to come, CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHITE. In October of 2008 a zero issue hit the stands...got us fired up...and then nothing......

... until now. Seven years later, CAPTAIN AMERICA - WHITE # 1 his the shelves and despite being a looooonnnngggggg time between issues, it was so worth the wait. With the current Marvel Universe in a state of flux/change/reboot it is great to see the greatest superhero back and the way he should be... fighting during the cold days of World War Two.

Sure the world has changed quite a bit since 2008, but great storytelling hasn't!

HARROWED (The Woodsview Murders #1) is Here!

Jolene Haley and I are very excited to announce that our new book HARROWED is now available on Amazon!

You can get HARROWED right now by clicking here!!

About HARROWED:

Journalism Rule #1: Always report the story. Never become the story.

Avery Blair has accepted the fact that nothing exciting ever happens in her small town of Woodsview, Massachusetts. As the editor of the high school blog, she prays for something—anything—to come along that would make for a great headline.

When Beatrice Thompson’s body is found in the girls’ bathroom, Avery has her biggest story ever. The rumors circulating the school say that Beatrice took her own life, but Avery doesn't believe it for a second. Her instincts prove true when the next day brings another body bag.

The tiny community of Woodsview has become the hunting ground for a killer known as the Harvester. The killer targets Avery and her classmates, stalking their every move and terrorizing them with morbid messages.
With the help of her boyfriend Jason, her best friend Quinn, and an aging detective who can't keep her off the case, Avery dives head-first into her own investigation. She discovers that the secret of the Woodsview Harvester is buried in the town's history and its annual Harvest Festival celebration. With every clue she uncovers, Avery grows closer to unmasking the killer—and becoming the next victim.

Avery Blair has finally found a story to die for...if she can stay alive long enough to write it.

Meet Matthew Sylvester ...Again!

At last years Vermont Comic Con I met artist Matthew Sylvester. When i first saw his work I was blown away by not only his talent... but by what a great guy he was... and still is even one year later.

Sadly, Matt and I don't get to hang out much and this year, every time I went to his table to see him, he was incredibly busy which was a good thing. His style is both warm and chilling at the same time. His subject  matter certainly may be zombie heavy, but he can do so much more. His work makes me think back to the amazing works of the many artists who made late 80's comics like ALIEN WORLDS and TALES OF TERROR so memorable.

Take a look at his incredible art on his website at

* there are artistic tasteful nude drawings from Matt's classes posted, so please use discretion.

Thank You Again, VTCC 2015!

9/21/2015

Picture
by Matman

Once again the beautiful city of Burlington, Vermont hosted the Vermont Comic Con and once again... another amazing show!

First of all congrats to Jason Moulton for putting on yet another incredible show  VTCC is a small show that has grown so much since last year, yet remains intimate, fun and so well attended. Jason and his team did so much to advertise this show to the masses because, the masses were there in droves. As a creator a show is only as good as the crowds that come... and they were there.

As always being surrounded by family like Keith Gleason, Amy Kukta, Jay and Denise Mooers, Matt Sylvester, Scott Wee. Amanda Dufresne, Ron Leary, Jr. Joe Caramagna, Dan Parent, Blair Shedd, John Cimino and Joe St. Pierre make the shows even that more special. BUT, try seating all of us for dinner... not gonna happen.

The show had panels going both days and the Doctor Who one i was on (along with Blair Shedd (artist extraordinaire)was standing room only and fun, fun, FUN!

So thank you all involved for a great show. Like most there, we need an audience to talk to, help spread our message and hopefully support our craft. We had more people than we knew what to do with. i came home with only seven books!
