I have no idea how I missed this before, but as I was perusing Funny or Die this morning, I came across this little ditty that's an ode to G.I. Joe. It's a start-studded music video featuring Zack Galifianakis, Tony Hale, Julianne Moore and a bunch of other well-known faces. Thought I'd share it--Brian
Our buddy Eugene Lehnert (Armageddon for Andy) created this hysterical web series a while back, which chronicles the strange things that keep happening to a couple of roommates in Queens. Our pal Chris Giarrusso plays Pete, and in this episode, he is brilliant. Give it a watch, and then check out the rest of The Outer Boroughs on Eugene's Vimeo page. NOTE: There is a tiny bit of adult language in this episode. THE OUTER BOROUGHS: Episode 5 from Eugene on Vimeo. ComiCONN is less than two weeks away and the guest list has just grow... in a Flash! Joining the incredible guest list is actor John Wesley Shipp who played the Flash in the incredibly underrated television series. Press Release Papercutz, the industry’s leading children’s graphic novel publisher, has announced plans to publish an ongoing series of graphic novels featuring the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the heroic “teenagers with attitude” who kick-started the global phenomenon 20 years ago. Today, Power Rangers is the #1 live-action television series for boys, airing in 150 markets. With new a new iteration every season, longtime fans haven’t seen new adventures of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers since 1995. “Ever since we began publishing POWER RANGERS comics, it's been my dream to bring back the Mighty Morphin team,” said series editor Michael Petranek. “I grew up with the TV show, which makes this all the more special. I want to see Rita Repulsa again. I want to see stories that take place between the original episodes. We’ve been waiting over 15 years for new stories with these characters! With the 20th anniversary of the show’s debut this year, it just made too much sense not to do this.” MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS will be a companion series to the main POWER RANGERS graphic novel series, which is aligned with the current television season airing on Nickelodeon, Power Rangers Megaforce. Both will be written and illustrated by fan-favorite creative team Stefan Petrucha and PH Marcondes. The first volume of MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS releases in May 2014. Press Release What is the Saturday Morning Special? It’s the brainchild of a couple of immature guys; Brian LeTendre and Matt (Matman) Herring who are the creators and hosts of the all ages Secret Identity Podcast. Secret Identity has been providing ‘solid gold ear candy’ for comic book fans, gamers, and other members of geek culture for over 7 years. In that time Brian and Matman have interviewed hundreds of creators from the worlds of comic books, gaming, movies, television and music. Included in that list are comic book creator Todd McFarlane (Spawn), actors George Lazenby (James Bond) & Dean Haglund (X –Files), musician John Wetton (Asia / King Crimson), author Alana Jolie Abbott (Into The Reach), game developer Glenn Gamble (Walking Dead: Survival Instinct) and some of the biggest current comic book creators like Dan Slott (Spider-Man), Joe Kelly (Ben 10), Jeff Lemire (Animal Man) and Scott Snyder (Batman). Even wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper got into the act by putting Matman and Brian in headlocks at the same time. So what is the Saturday Morning Special? In reverence to the days of our youth where Saturday was all about cereal, cartoons and pajamas til noon, it’s a show that celebrates all these things in a fun way. Joining the duo in this little adventure is Keith Gleason and John Cimino from Reckless Sidekick Productions! If the names seem a little familiar it’s because John and Keith are the stars of the ‘Swass Cast’ and were the driving force behind the electrified web series ‘Hero Envy’! What we hope to do with ‘Saturday Morning Special’ is provide viewers with a visual compendium to the Secret Identity Podcast; a show that has the same charm, positive energy and all ages fun that we provide each week. Members of the Secret identity Facebook Page will get a sneak preview of our debut episode! Everyone else will be able to see it on Saturday, May 25th. Enjoy The Show!!! Our Summer Reading Project this year will be the Star Wars Omnibus X-Wing Rogue Squadron Volume 1. You can try and track down the print copy at your LCS or on eBay or you can grab the digital version for $14.99 over at Dark Horse Digital. This year's Summer Watching Project is the first Season of Eureka. You can fin the entire series on Netflix, or grab the DVD set from Amazon for under $20. We plan on starting our projects the week of May13th, which should give everyone plenty of time to get prepared. And for those who have never participated in our projects before, here's the deal--each week we read one issue of the comic and watch one episode of the show. Matt and I do segments about the projects on the show, and we have discussion on our message boards throughout the summer. It's a chance for us all to enjoy something we might have missed and talk about it together. Get ready! Hey Gang, Just a quick reminder that tonight at 7:30PM EST, Teen Titans Go! will be premiering on Cartoon Network. All of the original cast members of Teen Titans are returning for this new show, which will be a little more goofy but no less action-packed. We can't wait for it. How about you? It’s that time of year again--time for the SI community to vote on our summer projects! Each summer, we pick a TV show to watch together and discuss in weekly segments on the podcast. Last year’s project was Brisco County Jr., a classic show that was cancelled before its time. This year, we’ve decided to take a look at some of the series that SyFy has aired over the past few years, and watch the first season season of one together. Here are this year’s candidates: Eureka Dresden Files Alphas Warehouse 13 Lost Girl Being Human (US) From now until April 24th, you can vote on which show we’ll be watching for our summer project. We plan on beginning the project on the week of May 6th. Head to the Forums right now to vote!! P.S. One of the reasons these shows are on the list is because all of them are currently available on Netflix. by Matman Tonight Matt Smith begins the latest and possibly greatest adventures of any Doctor as we begin the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who! Starting off where the Christmas Special ended, the Doctor is without Amy and Rory. We all know, without a companion, the Doctor can get a little nuts. 'The Bells Of Saint John' re-introduces with new companion Jenna - Louise Coleman who helps sets the tone early with a sense of whimsy and fun and seems a bit nuts herself. New wardrobe, new TARDIS wallpaper and a new intro (with a nice nod to the past) this could be Matt Smith's moment to shine. Following a few deep and very involved arcs, this Who seems to be written to enjoy at face value. For the first time in a while I wasn't looking for clues and was able to just relax and enjoy the episode. How will Clara's past and her Dalek incarnation play out? I can't wait to find out. Matman Rating: 5 Out Of 5 Page Ones! |
