I'm still making my way through press releases that came out of SDCC, and I almost did a spit take when I saw this one. Action Lab's partnership with Full Moon just continues to provide treasure after treasure, and this one might be the best yet. Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, the duo behind the greatest run of Jonah hex ever, are bringing Jack Deth to comics.

Who is Jack Deth? Maybe this will jog your memory.
Palmiotti and Gray + '80s b-movie = Happy Brian. Here's the press release:

Action Lab Entertainment has a hit with CHARLES BAND’S PUPPET MASTER, the horror comic book series based on the popular film series from FULL MOON ENTERTAINMENT. Now the publisher is proud to announce they will be bringing another one of the studio’s classic film series to the comic world with TRANCERS, as part of their brand new comics line, FULL MOON PRESENTS.

Written by legendary creators Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti (Starfire, Harley Quinn) and based on the cult film series starring Tim Thomerson and Academy Award winner Helen Hunt, Trancers is the story of decorated Police Trooper Jack Deth. A cop from the far flung future of the year 2247, Jack must travel back to 1985 Los Angles on a one-way mission to capture a fugitive with the power to transform ordinary people into psychotic killing machines.

With Trancers, Gray and Palmiotti break ground on the Full Moon Presents line of comics, featuring an all-star creator line-up including Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Revival, Grayson), Brockton McKinney (Zoe Dare, Ehmm Theory), Dan Mendoza (Zombie Tramp), and Puppet Master-mind Shawn Gabborin .

The first issue will feature a variant cover by Amanda Conner (Starfire, Power Girl and Harley Quinn). Full Moon Presents: Trancers #1 is scheduled for an October 2015 release. Additional FULL MOON PRESENTS titles featuring the works of legendary writer/director Charles Band, Peter David (Oblivion), and David Goyer (Demonic Toys) showcasing more of the studio's cult and modern classics will follow from Action Lab: Danger Zone in 2016!

The Kickstarter campaign for Jamal Igle's all-ages superhero Molly Danger ends on July 20th, and while the funding goal is in sight, there is still a ways to go.

We absolutely loved Molly Danger: Book One, and would love to see Jamal make a series of this fantastic character and the world he's created around her. You can watch Jamal's Kickstarter video below and then go to the Molly Danger Kickstarter page to support the project.

Monkey See... Sea Monkey - (a review)

Here is a cool review I got from writer Kelly Jarvis! Thanks Kelly!!!

"Monkey See…Sea Monkey demonstrated to me it is a true classic in the making. In the tradition of timeless stories, author Matt (Matman) Herring blends humor and poignancy to create 'little Matt’s' unforgettable first-person narration in a story of friendship, adventure and hope. You can visually see the tiny town in northern Connecticut through little Matt’s 10 year old eyes. In this clever and zany tale Matt pulls you into the small town of Broad Brook, CT in the year 1979, where Matt, his friends and loads of neighbors go on an adventure to save the world from the evil Sea Monkey population. You will smile throughout the book as Matt recalls memories from a simpler time while pulling you through this uproarious adventure.

This style of writing is new to me. Matt has you captivated on the quick moving adventure this story entails, yet you can see all the details vividly not only from the artwork but Matman’s writing style makes you see 'little Matt’s' surroundings so clearly without interfering with the story. Matt’s masterful handling of the POV, allows you to see things through 'little Matt’s' eyes, but distant enough to allow the clever story to seep in and that was the best element of this book: blending and balance. The book is like a tapestry, intricate parts coming together to create something vibrant and playful.

This is such a must-read for children of all ages and so fun that you will get caught up in the excitement and adventure. I would recommend this book with 5 thumps up. I know you’ll enjoy this one and I also encourage you to take your time perusing. This is a classic you will want to pull off the shelf more than once.

And oh by the way, while reading this story I highly recommend a can of Chef-Boyardee’s Cheese Ravioli as your snack and I will be on pins and needles waiting for the Crazy Crab adventure.

While we were rocking the 'con on the East Coast, some major happenings were coming out of San Diego Comic Con! Brian and I will be discussing some of the insane things that were announced for the past month... but the one that got me going the most was a picture that greeted me on IDW's Editor-In-Chief's Facebook page...

If you know me and my love of the latre 1970's early 1980's MICRONAUTS comic from Marvel... you know why this picture made me squeal just a little!

You Did It Again ConnectiCon!!!

As Brian and I packed up today at ConnectiCon, we both became incredibly nostalgic. We have had some incredible memories, met lifelong friends and had some great moments... and this year seemed to top it all!

First of all we would like to thank Mathew Daigle and his entire staff at the show (including and especially Kristen Benedict) who not only made sure we were having a good time but made sure we were taken care of.

Brian and I were able to provide three panels; How To Do A Podcast, How To Interview Celebrates and Doctor Who 101. Since ConnectiCon is a 3 1/2 day show, programming is very important to the attendees and we thank the folks for entrusting us with three. We were incredibly humbled and kinda embarrassed by the feedback we received.

Our booth and location were perfect and we were constantly being asked if we needed anything and given reminders for our scheduled events. This is the treatment everyone gets and it makes you not only feel good but gives you a great feeling knowing the staff have your back! This glowing review was NOT influenced by the can of Mountain Dew delivered to our table.

ConnectiCon is THE show to see the best costumes and meet the most interesting people. The picture above was my favorite of the cosplay there this weekend... The McDonalds / Batman Rogues Mash-Up!

So again...thank you guys and gals for an incredible show, a great weekend and another place we can call home!

We're Having a Blast at ConnectiCon!

Our first day at at ConnectiCon was an absolute blast! Matt and I kicked off the morning hosting a panel about starting your own podcast. We had a great group of people who asked really good questions and made the panel a lot of fun for us. And since Matt and I rarely get to do panels together, it was extra awesome.

A little later, I got a chance to be on a panel about self-publishing with our good friend Matt McElroy from Drive Thru (seen in the bottom right of the picture above), and Matt hosted a panel on doing creator interviews. Both of those had great attendance and participation as well.

Over the course of the day, we had so many great people stop by the table and talk to us about music, games, comics, movies, podcasts and everything else. It was like an eight-hour long episode of Secret Identity with friends. We can't wait to get back there Saturday for another fun-filled day!

P.S. Thanks to everyone who supported Matt and I by buying a book today. You are all amazing, and we truly appreciate it!
