How stupid are some people? Just look at the controversy
and insanity that preceded the release of STEVE ROGERS - CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 a few weeks back. From one panel where Captain America says "Hail Hydra", the world exploded! Death threats and hate mail were directed at writer Nick Spencer and editor Tom Brevoort for Steve Rogers saying 'Hail Hydra' at the end of the first issue. Ummmmmm, why?
People, and by people I mean morons, began to rant about how Cap doing this was a slap in the face to Cap's Jewish creators (Joe Simon and Jack Kirby) and was Marvel being anti semitic.
What rational people saw and would eventually read is Nick Spencer writing an amazing story, amazingly visualised by Jesus Saiz and lovingly lettered by Joe Caramagna! Are we, and by we I mean socially awkward losers, so quick to react to something that we see a flash of and jump to conclusions?
Wanna get pissed? How about Cap throwing (bot gonna tell you here) out of a plane? THAT is something to get mad at; not death threat mad, but "holy cow, I didn't see that one coming" mad.
For anyone who knows Nick Spencer's writing style, he writes epics...BIG STORIES. One panel is just a smidgen of what the overall story is going to be.
Boy are some folks gonna be disappointed when we find Cap is just trying to infiltrate Hydra.
