Back before CONVERGENCE started I remember feeling that it wouldn't be the event that was the story... but what would follow. So far the post 'New 52' DCU is shaping up to be something incredibly special and a ton of fun.
Why? That is a great question that I don't really have an answer for but what I do know is I know what I like and I like this!
So far in the '41's' I have noticed that ALL of them have been incredibly strong; amazing art and compelling stories. What DC has been presenting in their 'number ones' are diverse books that don't feel very continuity heavy. For me that means that creators can tell the stories THEY want to tell... not the ones that they have to write to fit into the one vision. BAT MITE has nothing to do with STARFIRE and is miles away from this weeks JLA. In fact, JLA features Superman not in his Truth' situation and Green Lantern looks like he always does, not as he did in GREEN LANTERN # 41... and I don't care!
I know that Marvel films has worked tirelessly to create the 'one world' and DC tried to do that with the New 52, but I just want great stories and mind blowing art... and that is what we are getting!
Starfire is trying to find her way and living in a trailer? Love it!
Parasite is back and piles of Supermen in a kids lab. YUP!
ALL STAR SECTION EIGHT is just insane!
Black Canary is in a band and beats people up at her shows? I can did it!
So a note to DC...please keep doing what you are doing because for the first time since the 'New 52' launched, i'm real excited! Tell those stories and take chances? Can the world survive two HARLEY QUINN books? Let's see...
But please...as awesome and beautiful a work of art Bryan Hitch's art was in JLA #1... no more six dollar books.
