By the time Chris Jerico made it to the WWF, I was no longer watching wrestling. But over the past few years Jericho has become one of my favorite personalities. He is funny, personable and seems like a cool guy. So why has it taken me this long to discover his band Fozzy?
Released in 2010 'Chasing The Grail' is the bands 4th CD and this thing rocks! For 12 songs, vocalist Chris Jericho, guitarist Rich Ward, bassist Sean Delson and drummer Frank Fronsere deliver one of the most enjoyable heavy metal album I have ever listened too. Jericho's voice is powerful yet has a lot of heart, something many metal vocalists lack. Fozzy's musical assault contain soaring leads, crunching riffs and a serious amount of melody.
The disc starts out with a real burner, 'Under Blackened Skies'. The song sets the tone for an album filled with classic metal and a bit of a progressive feel. Listening to this CD reminds me of the first time I listened to Ozzy Osbourne's 'Diary Of A Madman'!
The two best songs are found mid disc; 'God Pounds His Nails' and 'Watch Me Shine'. The first an arena rocker made to fire up the crowd and the second a commercial song that would sound great on the radio; if radio played anything good anymore.
If you are a metal fan who hasn't listened to this one, you need to stop what you're doing and fix this problem! It's an original record that will hold you and make you remember why you love this kind of music!
