With thundering
riffs, wailing vocals
and a heavy back beat,
King Diamond hit
the stage hard at
the Worcester
Palladium last night
to the thrill of
the thousands in
attendance. The
concert is part of the
Rock And Shock
show happening
this weekend in Worcester and what an incredible way to kick off the fun!
Returning to the stage, King Diamond tore through classics like 'Sleepless Nights', 'The Puppet Master' and 'At The Graves'. For the first four or five songs, the band played behind a fence that made you feel like you were looking into something you shouldn't be watching. But the show isn't just about precision metal music, it is a theatre event, much like KISS and Alice Cooper... but a little more extreme and a little more Halloween!
As amazing a frontman as King Diamond is, it is his band that really carries the show. In all my years of concert going, I have never seen a band play so hard, so together and so fast! Not to mention guitarists Andy La Rocque and Mike Wead, bassist Hal Pacino and drummer Matt Thompson realy seemed to enjoy themselves onstage. Smiling and really engaging the crowds! The biggest reaction from the crowd (and me personally) was when they reached to King Diamond's history and played 'Evil' and 'Come To The Sabbath' from his previous band, Mercyful Fate!
If you get a chance to see this show, you must! Tickets have been selling out and with good reason. Look at it as the Trans Siberian Orchestra for Halloween.. with devils, coffins and scary looking grandmas!
