Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins Brings Back Memories Of Arcade, Dreamcast

Little known fact--I received a Sega Dreamcast as a wedding gift from my groomsmen in October of 1999. The console had just launched in the US a month earlier, and I wanted one soooooo badly. Don't tell my wife, but that Dreamcast is still the best single gift I've ever received. I have so many great memories of it.

Anyway, one of the lauch games for the Sega Dreamcast was a little fighter known as Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. The game was a port of the very popular arcade fighter, and it was amazing on the Dreamcast. I'm not even a huge fighting game fan, but I poured hours into that game. Spider-Man was my first choice for a charaacter (obviously), but I loved playing as War machine as well.

So why am I so nostalgic about an old Dreamcast port of an arcade fighter? Because this week, Capcom released Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, a compilation of both Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and the original Marvel Super Heroes. The compilation is only $15, and it's now available for download on the PlayStation Network and XBox Live. Check out the press release and trailer below, and then go check out one of the best fighting franchises ever.

Press Release

Put away the quarters because MARVEL® VS. CAPCOM® ORIGINS is now available to download for home consoles! The game is ready for new challengers on PlayStation Network for $14.99 and on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points.

CAPCOM ORIGINS is jam-packed with Marvel and Capcom fan-favorite characters and crazy, beloved gameplay that throws a powerful punch.

Bringing forth a host of features never-before-seen in these games, MARVEL VS. CAPCOM ORIGINS adds GGPO-enhanced online play with 8-player lobbies and spectator mode, HD graphical upgrades, dynamic challenges and replay saving.

I played a hell of a lot of Marvel Super Heroes in college. I can't wait. When was there "partial nudity"? I hope it's Chun Li.
