(Springfield, MA) it was announced today that Heritage left fielder Matt Herring has been selected to play in the 2012 All Star Game next week in Chicopee, MA. This is Herring's 11th trip to the 'mid season classic' since his rookie season of 1995 when he played for Westfield EFC.
"This is an incredible thrill and honor to go back," a humbled Herring said. "Considering the injury plagued season i had last year, this is a nice feeling!"
Joining Herring next Tuesday evening is infielder John Rathbun who is playing his first season in the league and impressing everyone with his bat and glove. Left Center fielder Matt Deane will be representing Heritage in the Home Run Derby.
"I was asked to take part in the Home Run Derby," Herring added, "but as someone to catch the balls hit out there. I understand that I'm not, nor have i ever been a home run hitter."
