As I left Boston Comic Con 2013 I thought..."This was the best comic book show I have ever gone too!" Pretty high praise...but very true.
First of all the venue (The World Seaport Trade Center) and set up were perfect! There was plenty of room to move despite the incredible amount of people in attendance and I thought the room layout worked well. All the creators I spoke to really enjoyed the fact there was room behind their tables to move. I loved the fact there was plenty of 'quiet places' to escape for a few minutes or to do interviews. I do hope they bring the show back here next year.
And speaking of interviews, these are the ones I did...
Dan DiDio - He bumped me from hosting the DC panel but made up for it with a fun and relaxed chat.
Mike Mignola - My first interview of the show and what a doozie; we talk Hellboy's origin and Fish Police.
Barry Kitson - Not only is he a brilliant artist, and a great guy, he is also a hostage negotiator in the city of Baltimore.
Chris Ryall - IDW's editor and chief explalins his day, the inner workings of IDW and why Jamal Igle should do a comic about the Cure!
Joe Eisma - The artist of 'Morning Glories' explains how a message board got he and Nick Spencer together.
Lee Weeks - Writer, artist, magician and all around amazing guy. We talk Daredevil, Jesus and a good looking guy that Lee mixes me up with.
Mark Chiarello - The art director of DC and I sat and spoke for about an hour... and i only recorded about 30 minutes. This interview will teach you a lot!
Finally, my Sunday ended with me hosting the 'Doctor Who In Comics' panel with artists' Blair Shedd and J.K Woodward and featuring about 200 'Whovians'. This all ages crowd was passionate, full of energy and made this a great way to spend an hour!
Brian and I would like to thanks Jim, Colin and the rest of the staff at the Boston Comic Con for welcoming us like they always have and for putting on an amazing show with the best creators. By putting on the show you did, we are able to put on the show we do!
