Who ever would have thought a little black and white TV show, whose target audience was children, would turned into one of the most beloved series of all time... Doctor Who! My love for the Doctor started more recent than most fans, but in that time I have gotten and watched almost every episode since the classic 'An Unearthly Child.'
My introduction of the Doctor first happened back in the early 1980's when my local public television station (Channel 57 in Springfield, MA) would show episodes of Doctor Who on Saturday night. I would catch these episodes as I waited for Monty Python and to tell you the truth... I was not impressed at all. I thought the aliens looked silly, the acting wasn't very good and the sets looked like a high school production. But I tried to watch Tom Baker, K-9 and Sarah Jane go all over time and space... and I just didn't get it. I bought the 'Marvel Premiere' comics featuring the Doctor and still...nothing.
It wasn't until years later, when Christopher Eccleston help bring the Doctor back to a new audience. I caught a few episodes on Sci Fi channel waiting for Battlestar Galactica and I liked what I saw. I slowly began to get sucked into the WHOverse and by the time David Tennant showed up... I was a full fledged Whovian.
Over the next few weeks I will be counting down my Top 5 Doctor Who stuff; companions, moments, episodes, aliens, bad guys and so on! So get ready, set and GEROONNiiimmmOOOOO!
