As I sit back and think about my last con of 2014 I place North East Comic Con as one of the more interesting, yet incredibly enjoyable show! In a time when comic shows try to make their shows one stop shop, NECC really did that...PLUS!
Held at the Shiner's Convention Center in Wilmington, MA, the show had lots of comic creators, plenty of comics and toys and some cool celebrity guests... but it also had inexpensive concessions (I know right?), easy parking and a vibe of fun.
Among the eclectic goodies and creators was some interesting things like an alligator petting zoo, gymnastics, video game music and a geek rapper... sometimes all at once. At times it go a little distracting, but when you didn't have anything but a HUGE open space it was bound to happen.
As usual a show is only as good as the people you 'hang out' with and with friends like Keith Gleason (Hero Envy), Amy Kukta, Alan &0 Chris Hebert (HB Comics) and Griffin Ess & George O'Connor (Homeless Comics) can make anytime awesome!
As far as the people you will be meeting in future episodes of Secret Identity...
Amanda Dufrense - an amazingly talented, funny and super cool artist who may be doing some signings with me. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Amanda-Dufresne-Artist/471441909581025?pnref=story
Sean Kelley and Rob Mackiewicz of the strip, LIL' LEVI that can be found at www.lillevicomic.com. Pop culture references and the son of the devil!
Butch Patrick... Eddie Munster himself. I have loved THE MUNSTERS since I was a little lad and finally meeting and chatting with Butch was a real pleasure. Cool guy who really made me more of a fan!
So thanks to Mark and his staff for putting on a great show, the Shriners for all their help and everyone who came by to make the final show of the year a great one!
