Warning: Spoilers Ahead!!!
This is the third episode in a row that features major plot developments. Two episodes ago, we found out that Leland was the killer. Last episode, Maddie’s body was found, and in this one--Cooper deduces that Leland did it!
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
The episode starts with Cooper, Truman, Albert and Hawk reacting to the death of Maddie. Cooper is really struggling, as he feels like he’s close to cracking the case but he’s not seeing a key connection.
That key connection comes from Donna in this episode, as a phrase from Harold Smith’s suicide note leads (in a roundabout way) to another page from Laura Palmer’s diary. When Donna shares that page with Cooper, he realizes that he and Laura Palmer had the same dream, and that dream is the key to unlocking the identity of the killer.
After gathering all of the possible suspects together, Cooper has another vision and realizes that Leland is the killer. He tricks Leland into coming to the police station, and locks him up. The spirit of Bob, who had possessed Leland for some time, admits to the murders and then violently escapes from Leland’s body, causing Leland to kill himself in the process. Now Bob is on the loose again.
We also saw Catherine reveal herself to Ben Horne in this episode, and we saw James leave town, much to the dismay of Donna.
I have to say, I didn’t expect things with Leland to move so quickly after he was revealed two episodes ago. I wonder who Bob is going to possess next?
What did you think of this episode? Let me know in the comments!
